Purchase strengthens ERM’s capability in the Oil & Gas and Power sectors
LONDON, September 30, 2014: ERM, the world’s leading environmental and sustainability consultancy, has today completed the acquisition of Natural Resource Group (NRG), a Minneapolis-based environmental consultancy with 150 staff operating in 10 offices across the United States.
NRG is focused entirely on the energy sector and provides high-calibre linear permitting advice, and some EHS compliance monitoring, to Oil & Gas pipeline companies and Power companies. ERM has a leading position in providing advice in the upstream and downstream parts of the Oil & Gas sector and has a strong and growing reputation in the Power sector. The acquisition of NRG broadens ERM’s capabilities in the midstream Oil & Gas sector, and further strengthens its capability in the Power sector in North America. ERM employs some 5,000 staff and supports many of the world’s largest clients, including more than 50 per cent of the Global Fortune 500 through its network of some 150 offices in over 40 countries. ERM has experienced strong growth in the last few years in particular in response to increasing demand from its clients for the high-quality services and project outcomes for which ERM is so well known.
“Like ERM, NRG has a very strong reputation for professional excellence and client service,” explained John Alexander, ERM Chief Executive Officer. “There is an ideal fit between NRG and ERM which is founded on the quality of our people, services and clients and we are looking forward to working with the NRG team to expand our ability to deliver great outcomes for our combined clients on their challenging projects and opportunities.”
Over the next 12 months NRG will be carefully integrated into ERM’s global structure, which is based around sectors, geography and practice expertise. NRG President, Mark Larson said, “Becoming part of ERM strengthens our position within the energy industry and provides us with opportunities to expand and diversify, both as an organization and as employees. ERM provides enhanced career opportunities in new sectors and diverse offerings, which is very exciting for NRG staff. We are all delighted to be joining ERM.”
