ERM, the world’s largest sustainability consultancy, has published its annual Sustainability Report, which sets out how the firm delivered impact for its clients, people and communities during the latest fiscal year, alongside the priorities shaping its business for the year ahead.
The report, Regional Pathways to Global Impact, showcases ERM’s commitment to shaping a sustainable future through performance insights and client impact stories from around the world. It highlights how each of ERM's regional teams contributes to the firm's global operations and impact.
- Helped accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy through the generation of 103 GW of renewable energy capacity, equivalent to the annual carbon emissions of approximately 23 million US households.
- Identified 1.2 million ktCO2e of emissions reduction opportunities for clients, equivalent to removing around 260 million fossil-fueled cars from the road for an entire year.
- Supported a nature-positive future through the processing of more than 1.3 billion liters of water, equivalent to approximately 550 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
- Delivered more than 31,000 projects worldwide, supporting clients across climate, nature, infrastructure and social performance.
Looking ahead, ERM remains on track to meet its SBTi targets across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2040.
The report is informed by ERM's Double Materiality Assessment, which brings together stakeholder engagement, market analysis and enterprise risk review to identify the sustainability topics most significant to both business performance and wider societal impact. The assessment helped shape ERM's priorities for FY27, including resilience to geopolitical change, responsible adoption of AI, building a future-ready workforce and supply chain sustainability.
Sabine Hoefnagel, Interim CEO at ERM said: "We continue to operate in a rapidly changing environment shaped by geopolitical shifts, evolving regulations, technological disruption and rising stakeholder expectations.
“As this report shows, while regional pathways differ, they share a common goal: helping organizations create value while advancing sustainability outcomes. From supporting the energy transition and reducing emissions to protecting natural resources and strengthening resilience, our people continue to deliver impact where it matters most.
“Guided by our purpose and beliefs, we look forward to working alongside our clients, partners and communities to navigate challenges, capture opportunities and help shape a more sustainable future."
