ERM Sustainable Safety program recognized for excellence in South Korea
29 July 2015
ERM has been providing a sustainable safety program to S-OIL, one of South Korea’s largest refineries since 2014. The program includes onsite data capture technology for a safety culture survey, safety diagnostics, safety improvement strategy development, safety leadership training and field coaching on hazard identification and coaching-based intervention using the ERM Sustainable Safety approach.
After the first year of consulting on this project, S-OIL was invited by Korea Occupational Safety and Health Association (KOSHA) to showcase the sustainable safety program as an example of excellence at its International Safety Seminar at KOEX, in Seoul, Korea. During the presentation, S-OIL introduced ERM and shared the recommended Sustainable Safety action items that we had developed.
“In addition to the excellence showcase, other Korean organizations have visited S-OIL to benchmark safety activities,” explained Seungcheon Baek, Partner in ERM’s South Korea office “GS Caltex and Daelim Chem have since approached to ERM to discuss how we might support them in their safety improvement. This is great recognition for the work we are doing in this market and is positioning us as a leader in this field.”
