Environmental Consultancy ERM Reports Highest Ever Growth
03 October 2009
Environmental Resources Management (ERM), the world’s leading environmental consultancy, today reported a record 19% growth in net revenues to US$445.7 million and 23% increase in operating profit. Gross revenues for the financial year were US$638.5 million
Commenting on this year’s results newly appointed Chairman, Pete Regan said: “In 2007 we achieved our highest-ever growth in net revenues, and despite the recent economic uncertainty we have experienced strong growth in the equivalent first quarter of this financial year.”
Regan continued: “Although the credit crunch has disrupted many markets and created new challenges for our clients, rising prices in the commodity markets has driven growth in our Impact Assessment & Planning Practice. Demand for our Contaminated Site Management services has also remained strong accounting for 33% of our sales. Notably, these market conditions have also pushed sustainability further up the corporate agenda. Organizations are looking at both their processes and products in terms of what it really means to be sustainable and what is the potential business advantage. For instance, our clients are considering renewable energy sources and energy efficient processes; looking at what steps they can take to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions; and developing more sustainable and climate conscious business strategies such as accounting for the risk of climate change during due diligence assessments.”
During the past year ERM has continued to build its capacity around the world, opening 13 new offices including establishing a presence in Romania and Alaska, as well as strengthening our presence in Africa, North America, UK, Germany and Malaysia.
