On April 4 - 6, SPE Asia Pacific Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Social Responsibility Conference will be held in Malaysia, with the theme “Stepping Up in the New Norm”: The industry needs to re-examine and challenge current practices while managing stakeholders’ expectations, especially in the current shifting landscape.
As a growing region, Asia Pacific needs to continuously optimize development and production solutions and resources while maintaining high safety and ‘green’ standards, learning from the past and innovating for the future.

ERM at the Conference
ERM collaborates with Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) globally every year to share industry thought on the latest HSSE issues in the Oil and Gas industry. ERM, as Sustainability Partner in the SPE conference, will contribute to the conference theme to show how the oil and gas industry is setting the “New Norms - New Approaches” in a number of ways.

Don Lloyd is the Global Managing Partner for Safety Services and Risk Services at ERM. Don is a chemical engineer with an MSc (Environmental Management) and a PhD (Risk Management). He has over 35 years industry experience with major International companies such as Shell, Total and BG Group. This has included roles in process operations, operational support, process design, project management, process safety engineering, insurance, risk management and HSE leadership roles at site, region and group levels including over 15 years as Group functional leader e.g. Group SVP HSSE & Asset Integrity at BG reporting to the Group Board.
Ng Hon Seng
Ng Hon Seng is currently the managing partner for ERM business in Malaysia. Mr. Ng has over 19 years of experience in environmental health and safety services and acted in various capacities for more than 100 projects across Asia Pacific, including Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, the Sultanate of Oman, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Australia. An environmental engineer by professional qualification and invested his career interest into occupational health and safety over years. He is currently an active executive committee for the Malaysian Industrial Hygiene Association and the Malaysian Business Council for Sustainable Development.
David is one of the most experienced environmental and social advisors to the oil and gas industry in the Asia Pacific region. In a career spanning more than 25 years, David has advised many oil and gas companies on managing their environmental and social challenges, and has been involved in numerous oil and gas projects, onshore and offshore, including LNG plants, floating LNG, pipelines, seismic and exploratory wells, coal seam gas, conventional offshore developments and associated shore base infrastructure. Whilst assisting companies with their major capital projects, David has also advised on corporate policy and systems as well as sustainability communications.
Piers Tonge is ERM’s Regional Clients and Market Leader for Oil and Gas in the Asia Pacific region. Piers brings over 25 years strategic, technical, and operational expertise within Oil and Gas sector operating, service and consulting companies. He has extensive experience of corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, conducting due diligence and strategic reviews, and developing corporate and asset valuations, and executing transactions across the Oil, Gas and Power sectors.
Jye Yng Voon
Jye Yng Voon is a Senior Partner at ERM with 20 years of experience in technical risk and process safety, primarily in the oil & gas, petrochemical and chemical industries. She works extensively in conducting process hazard analysis and assessing major accident events through formal safety assessments, functional safety assessments and demonstration of ALARP in HSE Cases for major capital projects as well as existing operating assets for offshore and onshore facilities in the Asia Pacific and Australia regions. Jye Yng has been working alongside Clients in addressing a wide range of challenges within their organisations.
David Wills is the Asia Pacific Commercial Director for ERM based out of Sydney. Mr. Wills has more than 25 years of experience in industry and EHS consulting. His technical experience across a wide range of environmental and industrial related fields including site assessment and remediation, impact assessment, industrial water and wastewater management, waste management, air emission and odor control, EHS assessment and risk management. He has applied his technical and management skills to many industries including O&G, chemicals/petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, automotive, food, mining and mineral processing, footwear and apparel.
Tom Woollard is a Principal Partner at ERM who has been providing strategic and operational advice to ERM clients across the globe for over 25 years. Tom typically works closely with corporate executives to design EHS and sustainability strategies which he then helps to implement over subsequent years. He has been an advisor to senior oil & gas executives at BP, Shell, BG, Genel, Statoil and PTT and is pleased to be presenting a paper on the work he has led on redesigning ‘fit for purpose’ HSE functions in multinational corporations.
