ERM’s power industry experts and specialists will be contributing to the high-profile event by sharing thought leadership to help power companies effectively address their full spectrum of strategic and operational challenges.
Sean Purdie is the Managing Partner for the APAC Power Sector at Environmental Resources Management (ERM). Prior to this he was Development Director Power at Parsons Brinckerhoff and before that Senior Vice President with Marubeni Asian Power, the Asian IPP development division of the leading Japanese trading house, Marubeni Corporation. He joined Marubeni in 2007 after spending seven years developing Parsons Brinkerhoff’s Asian power business. Originally qualified as a mechanical engineer, Sean is based in Hong Kong and has 15 years of power sector experience in Asia.
Sean will be chairing a panel discussion session which will be held on 2nd September 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on Reducing Existing Emissions. The panel will discuss the availability of technology to power generators for improving the performance of existing emissions controls.
Sean is also one of the invited speakers for the session titled “Risk Management”, which will be held in the Asia Financial Forum on 2nd September, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. During the session leading risk management experts will discuss the latest developments in mitigating project risk and illustrating with real-life examples. Sean will give a presentation on Project Finance – Integrating Lender Environmental and Social Standards into Project developments in Indonesia.
Adis Dewi is a Senior Social Consultant based in ERM Indonesia. She graduated with Diploma of Economic Sciences from the University of Kassel, Germany in December 2005 and has 10 years of experience in social studies including undertaking social data gathering, analyzing and reporting on socio-economic outcomes and livelihood assessments. She has extensive experience working on AMDAL/ESHIA for lender institutions such as International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) which involves reviewing financed projects, and other extensive projects, such as stakeholder mapping, and conducting land acquisition and resettlement plans. She has also worked with geothermal power plants, most recently at Sarulla Operation Limited/SOL for an assessment under the ADB Safeguard Policy Statement.
Adis is one of the invited speakers for the session titled “Project Issues and Challenges”, which will be held on 2nd September, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. This session will focus on a broad framework to reconsider a project, the challenges that may be encountered, and, perhaps, to spark an innovative solution. Adis will present a Case Study on the Land Acquisition Process in the Power Industry in Indonesia.
