ERM and Löning Panel Discussion: Companies, Human Rights, Transparency and the Generation S(ustainability)
28 June 2017
ERM and Löning are hosting an event to discuss the growing role human rights can play in a forward-looking corporate strategy and how you can effectively respect the dignity of human beings in their business activities.
Why do companies consider human rights issues?
The factors of globalization, climate change and digitization are radically changing the coexistence of almost 9 billion people, while consumers, interest groups and investors are increasingly demanding more transparency. Companies are facing opportunities and challenges at the same time: the development of new supply chains, the testing of new business models and the demands of a rapidly changing economy.
However, at the same time, the pressure to consistently enforce its own corporate values along the entire value chain is increasing. In addition to complying with environmental standards and sustainability goals, the active preservation of human rights from a corporate strategy is now indispensable.
As part of our panel discussion, there will be keynote presentations on the following topics:
- Transparency through technology and information ("Big Data"): How is artificial intelligence used to serve the requirements of Generation S to companies, investors and interest groups?
- Human rights aspects as an opportunity for companies: from strategy to effective implementation - which role does management play and what is actually their responsibility?
- CSR reporting, certification and verification; Limits and possibilities: What leverage do companies use in CSR reporting?
- Environmental and social aspects of project financing
