6 - 7 April 2017
ERM will be leading a workshop on Sustainable Asset Retirement at the 3rd Annual Decommissioning & Demolition of Fossil Fuel Power Plants Forum in Barcelona.
Fossil-fuel fired power plants are becoming increasingly unprofitable due to a growing share of renewables. Consequently, a lot of power plants are being shut down. What happens with these plants? If no other destination can be found, demolition of such plants becomes a likely scenario. The decommissioning and demolition of a power plant is a time consuming and costly process, which requires proper planning and preparation.
This event will enable participants to achieve insights in the planning, preparation and execution of decommissioning and demolition projects for conventional power plants. Participants will learn about the best practices from the leading utilities and contractors that have experience in demolishing conventional power plants and get the full picture about state of the art techniques for demolition and dismantling of power plants.

ERM in the Power Sector
Our focus is to mitigate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Liabilities, achieve optimum asset disposal value, help with permit surrender, and ensure the site is returned to a baseline condition with the aim of achieving a positive future site legacy and overall social acceptance.
We have extensive energy sector experience delivering key support on all kinds of power projects including coal at all stages of the project lifecycle including decommissioning. Whether faced with decommissioning a single facility or a portfolio of sites, ERM helps to manage and anticipate the complexities and project risk involved. From initial planning and asset characterization; through scope development, contracting and execution; culminating with potential asset divestiture and redevelopment, there are numerous critical steps that require completion to ensure a decommissioning and redevelopment project provides the highest value to an owner in a sustainable, safe and technically compliant manner.
