Drawing on research with more than 33,000 people across 34 markets, this report explores how public attitudes toward sustainability, climate change, technology, AI, business, and government are evolving, and what these shifts mean for leaders seeking to drive transformation.
Key Findings
- Most people believe the world is facing an unprecedented crisis. 86% say today's social, environmental, and economic challenges represent the biggest crisis humanity has ever faced, up significantly from 2012.
- Climate concerns are shaping major life decisions. More than four in ten people say climate change has made them reconsider whether to have children, highlighting the growing personal impact of environmental concerns.
- Optimism about technology remains high, but confidence is softening. Most people believe technology can help solve climate change, but faith in technology has declined since its recent peak, while concerns about AI's impact on misinformation, privacy, and jobs are growing.
- Trust in companies is under pressure while demand for regulation remains strong. Although most people see business as an essential part of the solution to global challenges, fewer than half believe companies communicate honestly about their social and environmental performance, and nearly three-quarters support stronger regulation of corporate responsibility.
