Towards One substance One Assessment: the role of IUCLID

Jeanne Millan-Bernal, Managing Consultant at ERM, will be speaking on behalf of IBMA, the International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association, about the future of IUCLID for pesticides, with a specific focus on biologicals.

Jeanne Millan-Bernal

Managing Consultant at ERM

Jeanne Millan-Bernal is Managing Consultant at ERM. With more than 10 years of experience in regulatory affairs of agrochemicals, she currently works on plant protection products, with a specific focus on biopesticides. Jeanne also leads the IUCLID- Plant Protection Product (PPP) team.

With a toxicologist background, before joining ERM, she worked in a major Contract Research Organisation (CRO), responsible for the dermal absorption department and study director for more than 300 dermal absorption studies.

Apostolos Koutsaftis

Apostolos Koutsaftis, PhD Okayama University, Japan, has worked globally for over 13 years in ecotoxicology and environmental risk assessment of hazardous substances in various sectors such as government (EPA New Zealand for almost 4 years), industry (plant protection products at Adama; biocides/chemicals at Dupont) and 3 consultancies. Apostolos specializes in higher tier refinements of environmental risk assessments, global data requirements in ecotoxicology for PPPs/biocides and chemicals, testing and risk assessment strategies, dossier registration preparations for active substances and has designed and monitored numerous of laboratory and various field ecotoxicity studies.

Carolyn Thomas

Carolyn is the SP&SC Partner Lead for ERM. She has over 24 years' experience in European regulatory affairs, managing country regulatory for the UK and Ireland and working in the European arena, latterly for Syngenta in Basel managing the European fungicide portfolio. Joining ERM in March 2017, Carolyn's focus is now to manage the expert regulatory team and help to shape and grow the ERM offer to clients, ensuring that ERM continues to offer high quality expert advice. She has experience in risk assessment, decision analysis, advocacy, and issue management.

Daniele Ruccia

Daniele Ruccia is a Crop Protection Partner Lead with an agronomist background and almost 20 years in the agrochemical world, where he has been involved mostly with roles covering strategic and regulatory affairs responsibilities for the plant protection products industry. In his latest role before joining ERM in September 2021, he has been heading the global multicultural regulatory team of 30 people for a multinational post-patent company with headquarters in China.

Euros Jones

Euros Jones is a Partner in ERM based in Brussels. He joined ERM in December 2017 having previously held the post of Regulatory Affairs Director in the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA). Within ERM, he is involved in a range of crop protection projects, in particular providing regulatory policy support and task force management support. In addition to his crop protection experience, he also has experience in managing a number of chemical sector projects within the framework of the EU’s REACH Regulation.

Géraldine Meunier

Géraldine is a Program and Project Manager in the regulatory team based in France. She has always worked in the chemical regulatory world, both at authorities and in industry. She spent 12 years in the Crop Science industry, holding several regulatory positions for pesticides in EU and the US, advocacy for biopesticides and biostimulants in Europe and regulatory strategy on digital agriculture globally.

Torsten Hauck

Torsten is a partner with 24 years of professional experience. His expertise covers Crop Protection, Biologicals, Biocides and Veterinary Pharmaceuticals. Torsten has worked at the global level, supporting major registrations in the EU, the USA and Asia. He has held leadership roles in both European and Global regulatory functions. During this time, he has established a network to industry, industrial associations, authorities, and scientific institutes.

Phil Russell

Phil Russell has 30 years’ experience leading programs and driving improvement in environment, sustainability, and HSE in the regulatory, consulting, and private sectors. He specialises in environmental liability management, developing corporate sustainability strategies, and building or executing HSE transformation plans for multinational organizations. Previously he led environment & sustainable operations in a multi-national agrochemical company, focusing on driving sustainable change in the agrochemical industry. Within ERM, Phil is the AgChem Industry Lead and successfully supports clients in aspects including assessing and developing strategies on environmental compliance, ESG, and sustainability in value chain management, mergers and acquisitions, divestment programs, and environmental operations.
