Our first session of 2025 featured a conversation with Cynthia McHale, Senior Director, Investor Relations; Morgan LaManna, Director, Climate Action 100+; and Dan Saccardi, Program Director, Company Network at Ceres. The conversation included a discussion of the Climate Action 100+, Ceres’ expectations for this year’s Proxy Season, and how Ceres will continue to be involved in the development of climate-related policy at federal and state levels.
Speaker Biographies
Cynthia McHale, Senior Director, Investor Relations
Cynthia supports investor-led sustainability engagements with companies through several initiatives including Climate Action 100+, the Valuing Water Finance Initiative, Nature Action 100, and other Ceres Ambition 2030 working groups. On the Ceres Investor Team, Cynthia works with investors, colleagues, and partners to support investors’ sustainable stewardship goals and practices including corporate dialogues, shareholder proposals, and director engagement.
She previously worked as a Senior Global Program Manager at Accenture Strategy & Consulting where she advised financial services clients across North America, Europe, and Asia on the most pressing business issues organizations face. Cynthia also led Accenture Research North America, which combined data-driven insights with a deep understanding of industry issues to help companies embrace change.
Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Dartmouth College and a Master of Science in Management from Hult International Business School. She is an avid cyclist and lives with her family, including her husband and their two daughters, in Western Massachusetts.
Morgan LaManna, Director, Climate Action 100+
Morgan leads Ceres' team to implement the goals of the Climate Action 100+ initiative in North America. She is responsible for supporting investor leadership on focus companies and working with Ceres' Oil and Gas, Electric Power, Transportation and Food and Water teams to track company progress in line with the goals of the Climate Action 100+ Net Zero Company Benchmark.
Morgan spent five years working with European investors on corporate and public policy engagement at the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC.) While at IIGCC she led the publication of a number of collaborative guides on Investor Expectations of Corporate Climate Risk Management and other publications focused on climate risk integration across asset classes.
In her role as a consultant for the physical climate risk research provider 427, she authored an engagement guide, "From Risk to Resilience - Engaging Corporates to Build Adaptive Capacity." She also advised family offices and investment advisors on integration of environmental indicators into investment practices.
Morgan holds a master's degree in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in Geography and International Business from San Francisco State University.
Dan Saccardi, Program Director, Company Network
Dan joined Ceres in 2016 and leads the Company Network’s work to advance sustainable business leadership with some of the most influential companies across all major sectors of the economy. His advocacy focuses on moving companies to take action to stabilize the climate, protect water and natural resources, and build a just and inclusive economy. Dan has co-authored pioneering reports on transition and physical climate risk in the banking sector. He is also the Chair of the UNEP-FI Principles for Responsible Banking's Civil Society Advisory Body.
Prior to Ceres, Dan worked at the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Wildlife Conservation Society, and the sustainability consultancy GreenOrder. He received a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from Connecticut College and holds master's degrees in business administration and public administration from New York University. Dan is an active urban cyclist and can often be seen biking to work and around Boston.
