ERM, the world’s largest specialist sustainability consultancy, has published its annual Sustainability Report, which sets out the firm’s impact and sustainability performance during the year as well as its priorities for its fiscal year 2026.
The report, Sustaining Impact, showcases ERM’s commitment to shaping a sustainable future through data-driven insights and compelling client impact stories. It also reaffirms ERM’s alignment with the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards.
During its fiscal year 2025, ERM’s work to increase its impact included the following highlights:
- Contributed to more than 200GW of installed renewable energy capacity and 47GW of energy storage. By comparison, global annual renewable capacity additions amounted to 660GW in 2024, according to the International Energy Agency.
- Supported the decontamination of 2.5 million liters of water, which equates to the recommended daily water consumption of 1.25 million North American adults.
- Assisted with the treatment of over 58 million cubic meters of soil, which would cover the entire spatial area of Paris.
- Facilitated the treatment or destruction of over 84 million kg of contaminants— equivalent to the weight of around 150 jet airliners.
Within ERM’s own business operations, the firm remains on track to meet its SBTi targets, which include GHG emissions reductions targets to achieve net-zero by 2040 across ERM’s operations.
Tom Reichert, Group CEO at ERM said: “We’re living through a period of rapid change including geopolitical and economic uncertainty, technological disruption and societal instability. Across many dimensions, the pace of change continues to accelerate.
“Against this backdrop, ERM teams around the world are doing some incredible work helping organizations navigate the terrain in front of them, aligning sustainability and commercial impact.
“We are grateful to all our employees, clients and partners who are on this journey with us. There is so much more to do, but we look ahead with excitement at what we can accomplish together.”
