Climate Risk and Adaptation: Preparing for Disclosure

Overview: As the IFRS requirements begin to come into effect, with companies listed on HKEX required to report from this year’s reporting cycle, this session will go over the key requirements of the new climate rules as well as tips and tricks for achieving compliance. Decarbonisation in a changing disclosure environment

Overview: With evolving disclosure requirements (including the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong coming into effect from 1 January 2025), companies are increasingly expected to disclose Scope 3 and supply chain-related emissions. This session will explore how companies are scoping and setting ambitious decarbonization targets across operations as part of their sustainability strategies.
Piers has provided ESG advisory services across Asia for 25 years. He has advised multinational investors on managing ESG risks associated with inbound investments into Asia and Hong Kong-listed corporates on the ESG aspects of capital market transactions, outbound M&A and investor relations.
Piers leads ERM’s “decarbonization” services across Greater China, working with clients across a range of industries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their own operations and in their supply chains.
Dr Kennish has worked with ERMs Clients in the Asia Pacific region for the last 28 years on managing their sustainability risks and opportunities. Robin’s focus is on helping Clients on their net zero journey and working with their teams to ensure that a robust ESG strategy is in place.
He is working with power companies, conglomerates and asset management firms on aligning their climate change disclosures with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure requirements. Robin has recently worked with two HKEX listed companies on their Nature strategy which has included looking as risks and opportunities, value chain impacts as well as preparation of TNFD aligned disclosure for ESG reports. Robin has a PhD in Marine Sciences and his Biodiversity and Nature experience has ranged from developing corporate level policies through to site level assessments and habitat creation plans.
Summer is a principal consultant with ERM HK and supports companies at all stages of their decarbonization journey, from developing a net zero strategy, implementing energy efficiency or reduction measures, to deploying low-carbon technologies, such as CCUS, Hydrogen. She has experience in climate risk assessment, TCFD scenario analysis, GHG accounting, renewable procurement and net zero advisory covering a broad range of sectors.
Prior to Hong Kong, Summer has worked for the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office for over 5 years on climate change energy policy through the delivery of projects to support regional energy transition, where she has gained a portfolio of experience in offshore wind, power sector reform, carbon market and green finance. Summer also took temporary roles in UN agencies (UNFCCC, UNDP). She was selected as Impact Champion by Women in Renewables Asia in 2021.
Yulia leads Corporate Sustainability and Climate Change services across Asia. She has 18 years’ experience in consulting and managing projects on climate change, clean energy and sustainable development, including over 15 years in Asia-Pacific (APAC). She has worked with various development organisations (World Bank/IFC, EBRD, ADB, United Nations agencies), impact investors and financial institutions, national and city governments, as well as companies in the Oil & Gas, energy, cement, steel, textile and apparel, automotive, chemical and pharmaceutical, consumer goods, and other sectors.
Yulia is one of the leads ERM experts in APAC for the design of environmental, social and governance (ESG) and climate strategies for various sectors and clients. She is also an author and reviewer of a number of studies and publications.
