Simon is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Registered Functional Safety Engineer (RFSE) and TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Expert (both SIS and PH&RA) with extensive experience in safety-related applications. His expertise in process and functional safety is supported by a strong background in high-volume manufacturing. He is UK expert representative on the international committees for development and maintenance of safety standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 and has worked in the specification, design, management, and assessment of safety-related systems for over 20 years.

Andrew Derbyshire is a Technical Partner at ERM and a Chartered Engineer (CEng) specializing in Functional Safety. He is a Registered Functional Safety Engineer (RFSE) and Assessor (RFSA), certified by TÜV Rheinland and active in training for SIS courses. With over 15 years of experience in the Process, Oil & Gas, and High Hazard industries—and an additional 15 years in Military Aerospace—Andrew supports clients across the full safety lifecycle, including independent assessments to IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and IEC 62061. He is also a member of the IEC 61508 Association, The CASS Scheme, InstMC, MSaRS, and MIET.

Jaspreet is a Chartered Engineer, principally with a background in Chemical and Process Engineering, she has worked in high risk, high consequence industries for over 15 years covering technical safety and loss prevention areas such as Process Hazard Analysis, Quantitative Analysis, Functional Safety and Process Safety Management Systems. Specialising in the Life Sciences, Jaspreet’s expertise lies in the management and implementation of process safety in biologics and high containment facilities in particular BSL-3 and BSL-4, providing strategic advice and support around governance and integrating the process safety framework within existing management systems with a particular focus on plant design, maintenance and operation.

Sean is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and TÜV Rheinland Certified Functional Safety Engineer (SIS) with 13 years’ experience providing technical safety and risk consultancy across various sectors, with a current focus on energy transition. Sean is highly experienced in Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), and an experienced workshop facilitator for HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA studies. His other areas of expertise include Functional Safety, COMAH / Seveso Compliance and Process Safety Management. Sean has worked on various concept feasibility studies for energy transition projects in roles including process engineering lead and regulatory compliance lead. He has also authored best practice guidance documents for clients and industry.

Tom is a chemical engineer with experience in providing process and functional safety expertise to clients in the oil and gas, chemicals, energy transition, and biosafety sectors. He is experienced in process safety management, process hazard analysis and providing expertise across the entire safety lifecycle. His experience includes a wide range of safety studies and risk assessments including Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard & Operability (HAZOP), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Determination, SIL Verification, Functional Safety assessment (FSA), Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), as well as ALARP demonstrations and COMAH Safety Report development.

Iwan is a Consulting Associate in the Technical Safety Team, based out of the Cardiff office. He graduated with a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Bath in 2021. Iwan has experience in scribing HAZID, HAZOP and SIL Determination Workshops.
