Switching from fossil fuels to low carbon hydrogen is pivotal in launching the United Kingdom on its way to net-zero by 2050.

Hydrogen provides a practical, scalable solution to decarbonize existing industries that currently depend on fossil fuels. An established hydrogen economy in the Humber is well-positioned to support the United Kingdom’s future decarbonization, with endless possibilities to adapt.

The Humber region is rich in industrial expertise and diversity at a scale that is unrivalled anywhere else in the United Kingdom. H2H Saltend will build upon the Humber’s unique qualities and its geography to deploy and grow the country’s first low carbon hydrogen infrastructure for hydrogen and carbon dioxide emissions. H2H Saltend will be the project to kickstart the United Kingdom’s hydrogen future.

ERM is proud to be providing Equinor New Energy Ltd with environmental, health and safety services for the H2H Saltend Project in Humberside.

The project will become one of the world’s largest hydrogen production plants, which will contribute to the creation of the world’s first net-zero industrial cluster by 2040.

ERM will be working with Equinor to prepare all required permits, licenses, authorizations, notifications and consents to allow the construction and operation of the project and to support the consultation and engagement processes.

Hydrogen has a key role to play in our net-zero future, and this exciting project with Equinor is a great example of meaningful transition. We are proud to be a trusted advisor for this investment."
