Impact with clients

Remote site management using micro-satellite technology

As our clients seek to ensure business continuity, ERM consultants are helping to fill the gap when travel restrictions prevent them from visiting remote sites during the coronavirus shutdowns. Many clients have reached out to see if we can help monitor construction progress from their desktop.

One of ERM’s solutions is deploying micro-satellite technology. We task small satellites (the size of a loaf of bread) to take high-resolution images of a site. The imagery is available in 24 hours and is used to track work progress, delays and operational risks. Our analysis of the data is posted on web-based platforms for client use.

For example, while using micro-satellite technology to document activity at a client site, ERM imagery exposed illegal removal of habit by an unrelated developer at an adjacent site. This information was extremely useful to the client, who was then able to work with local stakeholders and develop key messages proactively.

The technology allows for oversight of a wide range of activities and assets anywhere in the world.

We are using imaging technology to conduct remote monitoring of client assets, supply chains and construction activities, with the benefit of eliminating travel, avoiding person-to-person contact and saving time.

Online geospatial data repository platforms and oversight dashboards provide critical information and resources for project managers and engineers to view progress and manage current workflows through complex projects.
