Leading sustainability efforts in Peru
Filipa Marques Da Silva Vicente
After eight great years working for ERM in Portugal, I was able to take advantage of ERM’s global network and transferred to ERM Peru in mid-2015.
The move has been a great adventure, allowing my family and me to experience life in another part of the world, while continuing my career at ERM.
In the Lima office, I was keen to take on the role of sustainability lead and focal point for ERM Peru, drawing on my knowledge and practical experience of sustainability activities from my time in Portugal. My transfer across ERM has given me insight into the sustainability culture across the company and allowed me to understand sustainability as a truly global issue, fully ingrained into our business.
I have been central to developing ERM Peru’s sustainability action plan for FY17, which includes a number of new and innovative objectives that sit comfortably alongside old favorites, such the annual beach clean-up day. ERM Peru’s FY17 plan is very much focused on local priorities of sustainability of the business and female empowerment, which align strongly with ERM’s goals.
To ensure my colleagues in Peru remain connected with this work, we hold quarterly office forums focusing on sustainability. These forums are a key means of engagement and communication with the wider ERM Peru team, with recent sessions including presentations on progress against the FY16 sustainability action plan and discussion around, and subsequent presentation of, the plan for FY17 .
I feel honored that I will play a central role supporting sustainability in Peru over the coming years.
