Supporting ERM growth through relationships with financial institutions
I began my ERM career nearly 10 years ago in Moscow. I worked primarily with international financial institutions like EBRD, IFC and commercial banks helping them manage environmental and social risks of their investments in the Former Soviet Union and advising developers on planning projects from early stages to secure external financing.
Since 2012, I have been based in London leading our Sustainable Finance efforts globally. Sustainable Finance is a cross-practice initiative that covers a range of ERM services, such as due diligence for lenders and impact assessments for developers across various geographies, particularly in emerging markets. Together with my ERM colleagues, we have built strong relationships with major international financial institutions that often refer ERM to their clients, leading to high-profile projects in all core ERM sectors.
In 2014, I began leading the expansion of ERM services to clients in the Caspian region, in countries such as Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and others. Our strong relationships with financial institutions provide a unique opportunity to open more doors for ERM. I am particularly excited that by applying standards of international financial institutions we can bring very challenging projects or operations in line with good international practices.
