Houston office takes action to reduce energy use in buildings
Houston, Texas, US
Our Houston, Texas, office was featured as part of an ERM case study in the September 2014 edition of WBCSD's Energy Efficiency in Buildings magazine, A Call to Action. The case study featured a number of initiatives by ERM offices to improve their energy efficiency during relocations or refurbishments.
Following this publication, ERM participated in the Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EEB) Laboratory, a joint WBCSD and US BCSD initiative. The EEB Lab brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, thought leaders and subject matter experts in the Houston market to define a set of ambitious, practical strategies for reducing building energy consumption by at least 30 percent. Our Houston office was one of 46 stakeholders interviewed by the Technical Committee members (assisted by students from Rice University). These interviews were a key element of the EEB Lab, providing vital insights into barriers, enablers and actions relevant to the city. WBCSD has published high-level results and an action plan from the EEB Lab.
ERM is one of more than 140 companies and regional network partners that signed the WBCSD Manifesto for Energy Efficiency in Buildings. The manifesto and its accompanying implementation guide outline specific actions to improve the energy performance of buildings and create demand for energy-efficient buildings in local markets.
