Shale World UK was born in 2013, as part of the international Shale World series which has for 6 years connected operators, licence holders and government with key stakeholders looking to explore the opportunities in shale gas and oil development globally.
Now in its 4th year, Shale World UK is one of the most well regarded shale and onshore oil and gas event in the country. Connecting senior and technical representatives from operators and licence holders with local and national government, regulators, local planning authorities, service companies and solutions providers, Shale World UK is the annual meeting place to strategize the future of the country’s shale gas sector.

On day 1 of the conference, ERM’s Alistair Fulton will be moderating a Local Communities roundtable session (12:00 – 13:00)

On day 2 of the conference, ERM’s William Hazell will participate in a panel discussion How can operators work with government and local councils ensure approvals at national and local level? (9:10-9:40) and will later be presenting on Delivering proportionate EIA/ERAs (11:40-12:00) in the Water, Waste and Environmental session.
Alistair Fulton is a Senior Partner at ERM based In London. He has been involved in shale gas and other ‘unconventional’ hydrocarbon developments for more than ten years. His work on shale gas has included developments in the US, Poland, Spain, Turkey, South Africa and Argentina as well as the UK. Alistair’s work on shale gas in the UK includes work on Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and licensing applications, as well as assisting operators with skills and knowledge transfer from the US. He has also recently been working on communication tools for stakeholder and community engagement.
William Hazell is a Partner with ERM. He has worked for over 12 years in the field of Environment Impact Assessment, environmental management and sustainable development on projects ranging from Carbon Capture and Storage to unconventional resources, mining, urban development, housing and transmissions lines, within the UK and internationally. William’s projects have always involved a number of aspects including impact assessment and reporting, liaison with external stakeholders and regulators and planning. William is particularly adept at providing a balanced approach to the needs of a development in relation to the environmental, social and economic context in which it is set.
