ERM’s Special Topic Workshop and Lunch
Tuesday, 10 February from 12h30 – 14h30

Unlocking greater shared value for all stakeholders in the mining sector
Mining can boost economies and present countries with a better future. However, the negative effects can be felt far into the future if stakeholders don't agree on how to optimise the tax, employment, local procurement and economic development opportunities that mining presents .

This topic will explore the role that key stakeholders should play in order to maximise shared value. We’ll look at

  • How well benefits are being maximised and shared today
  • Some of the barriers to increasing the benefits to all stakeholders, particularly after closure
  • The changes required in order to maximise shared value

The workshop debate will be stimulated through points of view expressed by the following panel:

  • Themba Mkhwanazi – Chief Executive Officer, Anglo American Coal South Africa
  • David Bridgman, Practice Manager, Trade & Competitiveness, World Bank
  • Colin Coleman, Partner, Managing Director, and Head of the Investment Banking Division of Sub-Saharan Africa, Goldman Sachs International
  • Moderator – Sue Posnik, ERM’s Lead Partner for Mining
