First steps towards common Greenhouse Gas reporting in Europe: a study of existing methods and alternatives.

Translation of an article by Almudena Ordejón, a Principal Consultant at ERM, published in Infoenviro in May 2011

The consultancy Environmental Resources Management (ERM) has conducted a study for the European Commission on the inventory and reporting methods for greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) which are currently employed by companiesi. Its main objective was to identify, analyze and share the leading methods and initiatives in the field of corporate GHG emission inventories, as a basis for the development of future policies. This work is part of an ambitious initiative that aims to assess the need to define a common methodology for organizations to report on their performance in the environmental arena. The following article explains the most important results of the study and its main conclusions.
