PDAC 2014: Highlights from ERM
06 May 2014
The Prospectors and Development Association of Canada (PDAC) International Convention, Trade Show & Investors Exchange is the world’s leading convention for people, companies and organizations associated with mineral exploration. Over four days, the conference plays host to more than 25,000 attendees from 126 countries.
ERM has been a key environmental consultant for many global clients in the mining sector for over 40 years. We help our clients minimize risk by evaluating and establishing new sites across the globe. Our goal is to improve the efficiency and safety of projects and existing operations alongside implementing strategies for the retirement of assets. ERM brought some of its leaders from across the world to participate in the PDAC conference, as it provides us with a high-level platform to learn and share experiences and knowledge on a variety of issues influencing the mining industry today. Components of our theme, “saving clients’ time and money through the proactive management of Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC)”, were discussed throughout ERM’s activities during the conference, which included:
Hosting a panel titled ‘Balancing Performance in Uncertain Times: The Relationship between Capital Markets and Environmental & Social Risk’ as part of PDAC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Series;
Speaking at the Technical Session, ‘South Africa: An anniversary, new challenges and opportunities’;
Speaking on Fasken Martineau, a leading law firm’s Women in Mining Panel; and
Presenting as part of two Short Courses: ‘Health and Safety in Mineral Exploration’ & ‘Developing a Cash Flow’.
This document is our topline view on some of the key themes and observations we noted at PDAC 2014, and in particular highlights a summary of ERM’s CSR Panel.
