ERM Highlights from IHS Energy CERA Week 2016
11 April 2016
IHS Energy CERAWeek is one of the most influential energy conferences in the world, with CEOs from many of the largest energy companies speaking. ERM is proud to have been the Sustainability Partner of the event for the last six years.
Driven by a similar theme to last year, the conference was was dominated by issues surrounding lower commodity prices and the implications for strategies, risks and opportunities. As the world’s leading sustainability consultancy, it was also reassuring to see sustainability on the agenda, influenced in no small part by the Climate Change talks in Paris last December (COP21).
Given that we have been helping many of the major companies in the energy sector navigate everything from the megatrends, such as climate change, to the impacts of low commodity prices on their operating models and strategies, we wanted to share some of our thought leadership on some of these issues, as well as some of our observations from the conference. This year, we spoke about improving HSE performance in a low cost and human capital constrained world, climate change and the implications for the energy industry, as well as some of the more challenging issues involving air quality and in particular methane emissions.
This document is our view of some of the key themes raised at the conference, as well as some of the insights we contributed.
