Partner with the Impact Assessment and Planning Practice in Canada

I joined ERM through the acquisition of Rescan Environmental Services Ltd. where I had been working for over 12 years. Not knowing much about ERM prior to the acquisition, I quickly realized that the match was an excellent fit for Rescan and me. A significant difference between ERM and the competition is that ERM is the largest worldwide consulting firm specializing in Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS), Social and Sustainability. Often engineering firms provide environmental services as an add-on to their key services, while the ERM model places these services as the primary focus for the client. Furthermore, what distinguishes us from others is that we ALL have an interest in EHS and sustainability and it is the focus of our business.

Based in the Vancouver office with over 140 people, I have more than 17 years’ consulting experience in the mining sector. I began my career as a fisheries biologist before becoming a Discipline Manager for Fisheries Services and then focused mainly as a Project Manager. I manage multi-disciplinary teams of over 50 people working on impact assessments of mining projects. I really enjoy working on multi-disciplinary projects to minimize impacts to the environment and people and we often have over 15 scientific disciplines such as wildlife, archaeology, geochemistry, fisheries, and socio-economic, working on these large impact assessment projects.

Growth and Collaboration
I also play a central role in business development where I attend mining conferences, reach out to potential new clients and develop proposals. This is something I truly enjoy. ERM makes considerable investment in career growth, development and training through various programs and courses. A primary example for me is the Partnership model, which offers a significant leadership role, ownership in the company and ultimately is very gratifying on a day to day basis.

The collaboration opportunities at ERM are incredible. We have access to expertise from colleagues that are located around the world and it is part of ERM’s culture to leverage these global relationships. This gives me an advantage in being able to deliver work across the world. In the short period I have been with ERM, I have already connected with people in Australia, France, Hong Kong, Spain, Ireland, Columbia and the United States to share client contacts and project opportunities. This collaboration aspect is really exciting.
