John Mogford is currently a Non-Executive Director for BHP Billiton, The Weir Group and DOF Subsea, a private Norwegian Subsea contractor.
With over 40 years in industry, John has recently worked as a non-executive director and as a Managing Director for First Reserve, a large energy-focused private equity company. Before that he worked for over 30 years with BP in a variety of roles, including Executive VP and Head of Global Refining and Executive VP for Safety and Operations. Prior to that he filled many different roles in Upstream, Midstream and Renewables after starting work in the North Sea in the 70’s.
While at BP, he led the investigation into the Texas City refinery explosion and advised Lord Cullen on the Paddington Rail crash enquiry. He is also a visiting professor at Strathclyde University in Process Safety and Oil and Gas and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers holding a B.Eng from Sheffield University.
