ERM USEPA's Chemical Manufacturing Area Source Rule Workshop in Philadelphia

12 November 2009

Chemical Manufacturing Area Source GACT and Emergent Air Regulatory Requirements Workshop

USEPA has historically regulated major sources of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP) under its air toxics rules.  However, recent USEPA regulations are trending toward lower-emitting sources of air toxics with a stringency and administrative burden on par with the major source rules. The Chemical Manufacturing Area Source Rule will be one of particular concern to industry – it is expected to be signed on October 16, 2009.  The “Generally Available Control Technology” provision of the rule is expected to impose additional comprehensive controls on sources using as little as 0.1% of HAP in its raw materials.
