We take career development seriously at ERM. We recognize that everyone has a different aspiration: one person may want to be a Partner, another to gain experience in another geography early in their career, another to balance a demanding home life with a satisfying career and yet another to want to lead a complex client program or specialize in certain area. We also recognize that career development means different things at different times for an individual across the lifespan of their consulting career. Our career framework identifies the major milestones in the performance and development of a consultant and provides guidance on the skills and experience to be gained at each stage.
Everyone at ERM has an individual development plan and career path, tailored to meet their specific motivations, abilities and potential. Together with your line manager, you can determine the career path that will take you in the direction you want to go. Career paths at ERM are flexible to match the needs of the business with the motivations and abilities of individuals. We are committed to help you achieve your potential, either by focusing on one career path and deepening your knowledge and skills in this, or moving between technical and managerial paths and gaining breadth of experience and skills.
Development takes place primarily through working with more experienced colleagues on project assignments, coaching and mentoring, knowledge sharing, training, and for some, international transfers. A key feature of ERM people is their willingness to help others to be successful by sharing their knowledge, creating opportunities and space for ERMers to realize their potential.
We encourage you to stretch yourself through challenging assignments and to learn new skills. You will be encouraged to participate in more than one practice or be cross-trained. Take advantage of those opportunities, accept the stretch assignments that will take you out of your comfort zone and allow you to become more valuable to your clients and ERM.
