The Hiring Process

ERM’s hiring process is designed to help candidates match their career interests with the many different positions we have available.  From our side, it ensures we hire for future potential just as much as for the current project need.  We take a longer-term view of building talent and leadership, and are committed to promoting from within whenever possible to ensure sustainable career growth once you are on board.

Job search

A career at ERM starts here.  You can search for a job opening that interests you by location, practice area or even keyword.  Once you have found the position you are most interested in, apply directly online for that role.  If you are interested in multiple positions, we encourage you to compare your experience to the position requirements and focus your submissions on those positions you are best qualified for.  You will receive an email message that we received your resume and that we will follow up with you if there is a possible match.

Candidate screening

We routinely receive multiple strong applications for an open position. Our recruiters carefully review each resume we receive, and look for the ideal combination of experience and education applicable to the position requirements.  If your skills are considered a strong match with the job requirements, you will be contacted by the recruiter, who will share information about ERM and the position, as well as what you can expect in the recruitment process. The initial screening process typically includes a phone interview and/or written request to assess your relevant experience and overall fit. Our goal is to determine the most qualified candidates to schedule for in-person interviews.

If your skills and experience aren’t considered the best match for our job-specific requirements but we find your background of interest for future opportunities, we will archive your resume for 6 months, so it can be considered for other suitable positions.

Interviews

When you are invited to an interview, you'll meet with the hiring team and responsible Partner.  During this stage, we'll evaluate your relevant skills and experience, explore your interests in pursuing a career with our company, answer your questions, and introduce you to our culture and team.  We are interested in learning about your past accomplishments and how your achievements and motivation can contribute to a successful career path at ERM.  If there’s a strong match, the interview process will continue with follow-up discussions with our Partners and several team members, providing you with a cross-section view of ERM.

What happens next

Considering everyone’s feedback, we will decide if you are suitable for the position and also compare you with other candidates, as appropriate.  Successful candidates will be subject to reference checks, and in some countries a comprehensive background investigation, before an offer of employment is extended.

We take hiring very seriously and it can take some time for us to make a final decision, sometimes longer depending on the position.  Your recruiter will keep in touch with you on the status of your candidacy, and likewise, feel free to get in touch with them at any time.

What makes ERM unique?

"Fresh out of college, I chose my job at ERM to work for the smartest person of those whom interviewed me. I liked the diversity ERM offered and believed I could have a career that would somehow 'make a difference'. ERM's ability to adapt to an individual's personal choices and changing career interests is a great advantage."
