Health and Safety at ERM
ERM places the highest priority on the health and safety of our employees, business associates, and the community. We are marching toward a goal of “zero accidents” across our operations, and we support that goal by providing a variety of health and safety resources.
ERM has a comprehensive program designed to control and reduce the likelihood of work-related accidents. We emphasize risk assessment and control, strong communications, training, self-assessment and a robust lessons learned process for continuous improvement.
Both on project sites and in the office, ERM’s safety program is designed to ensure the health and safety of our employees, our subcontractors, and site visitors while following contractual and regulatory requirements. Implementation involves the use of ERM’s program, and in some cases integrating on site operations into specific safety management systems utilized by our clients.
ERM project teams (ERM staff and subcontractors) meet daily to review the work at hand, interactions among different site organizations, and the communications necessary for conducting the day’s work safely.
ERM utilizes US Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidance to classify incidents that occur globally. In calendar year 2008, our overall global operations experienced a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.47, which compares very favorably to the most recently reported rate for our industry of 1.8. ERM’s lost workday case incidence rate was 0.09, less than our industry’s average of 0.40.
